The oral cavity plays an important role in the overall health of the body
We hope you are doing well and would like to give you some information that may help you.

You probably know that Dental Science is always evolving and we learn new and better methods of treatment each year. One of the most important discoveries in recent years is the growing number of systemic health problems that can be caused or worsened by oral health issues. Periodontal disease is essentially an overgrowth of certain bacteria in your mouth. When this condition is not properly treated the infection can spread to other parts of the body. This means that if your mouth is not healthy, your body is likely suffering as well. Conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and pre-term birth are only a few of the problems you may face if your oral health is neglected. The best way to avoid these and other issues is to keep your regular dental appointments so that problems can be detected and treated early.

Dental scientists are always learning new and better methods of treatment and we stay abreast of these changes and advances through continuing education classes. Dr. Arellano and his staff regularly attend these trainings. We want you to rest assured that when you come to our office you are getting the best quality care for not only your mouth but your entire body.

Sorry to See You Go...
After having a chance to work again with our former Registered Dental Assistant, Mandy Bartley, we are sad to see her leave so soon again. She and her family will be moving to Brentwood before the end of this month. We all will miss her!

Working with your dentist to regain mobility and comfort with TMJ/TMD treatment in San Francisco
TMJ means the temporomandibular joint. These 2 joints connect the lower jaw to the skull in front of both ears. They work with facial muscles to function when chewing and speaking. When these joints and associated muscles do not work properly, you may have TMD, temporomandibular joint disorder. You might experience head, jaw, and neck pain; ear pain; swelling; trouble chewing; and popping or clicking sounds when you chew or open wide.

We all might occasionally experience pain in the jaw. This is quite common and may not be a sign of TMD. However, when pain or swelling is present for more than a week or two, it is important to consider whether TMD is the problem and get an evaluation. Read more
