The need for dental care: So simple even a cave man gets it
New evidence of the roots of dentistry has been uncovered in a human jaw bone carbon dated at about 6,500 years old.

Italian researchers believe that a beeswax filling was placed into the Slovenian individual's tooth about the time of death. It they are able to ascertain that it was applied while the recipient lived, it will serve as a clear indication of the existence of prehistoric dental techniques.

The tooth in question shows wear likely caused by activities other than chewing - perhaps weaving, commonly performed by Neolithic females. The beeswax filling was probably applied to treat sensitivity from a crack through the enamel and into the dentin layer of the tooth. This exciting find shows that even primitive man valued therapeutic and palliative dental care. Read more

Our Special Patients for the Day:
Your Safety Is Our Priority
This month our office attended our bi-annual American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider CPR class. For many years we have preferred a private in-office class instructed by professional Firefighter Paramedics due to their insight from years of teaching and hands-on, real life experiences. Also, working with each of our office team members better trains us for the role each of us play should the need to use our life saving skills arises.

Also, our office is equipped with an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) although it's not a requirement for dental offices at this time.

The class updates our skills in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR focusing on two person CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), choking, the use of BVM's (bag-valve-mask resuscitation), and AED's.
A Beautiful Time of Year
Autumn is one of my favorite times of year at our office. With the rain and the changing colors of our Japanese maple trees and their falling leaves, we are treated with an ever changing collage-like work of art on our skylight windows for our patients to watch as they are getting their dental work done. Beautiful!
