How Long Does it Take for Teeth to Become Their Whitest?

Dr. Leo Arellano at Leo Arellano DDS PC Explains How Long Does it Take for Teeth to Become Their Whitest?

Whitening your teeth has become a common and popular cosmetic procedure for individuals dealing with permanently stained and discolored teeth that may be making them feel very self-conscious about their smile.  What’s great is that there are numerous options available to help you get a whiter, brighter smile.  Whether you’re considering an at-home bleaching treatment or a special in-office dentist visit to brighten your smile, you will see positive results quickly and easily.

But exactly how long does it take for teeth to become their whitest?  This varies, depending on a number of factors.  First, the type of stain and current shade of your teeth will be taken into consideration, as well as how many shades whiter you want to go.  If your teeth are permanently and deeply discolored, you can expect results to be less dramatic and take longer to see your whitest smile. If you have minor discoloration, results can be seen quickly and easily with even a simple home-whitening product.

When you schedule an in-office bleaching treatment, you can expect the fastest results.  In-office teeth whitening requires about an hour where bleach is applied a few times.  The use of a special light can also help your teeth be whitened considerably in one sitting at the dentist’s office.

On the other side, home-bleaching and whitening kits can take days or weeks to see significant whitening in comparison, so they will require more time to see your teeth at their whitest.  One of the benefits of in-home treatments is that you can whiten your teeth in the privacy of your own home without taking an afternoon to stay in the dentist’s chair for an appointment.

Depending on the results you’re looking for and the current condition of your teeth, one teeth whitening method may be more beneficial over the other, so it is essential that you contact Dr. Arellano.  With Dr. Arellano, you can schedule a complimentary consultation appointment to find out if in-home or in-office teeth whitening would work best for you!

I've been going to Dr. Arellano for about 20 years and I continue because of the excellent care and treatment I get with him and his whole office team. He is both professional and personable.
Recently I had a newer technique of gum surgery/grafting at his office called, "Pinhole Surgical Technique of gum grafting." I personally found this to be much easier to handle than the other style of gum grafting that I received years ago for the other side of my mouth. That worked, it was where part of my roof of my mouth was cut and surgically sewn onto the gum. However, I much prefer the pinhole technique. It was actually the easiest dental work I've had (beyond regular cleaning.) It didn't take too long and it didn't feel uncomfortable getting it done. I was swollen, but I think that happens regardless of what kind of gum grafting is done. I needed ibuprofin for a few days, no major pain. It healed well and just felt easy. I am not a fan of having any work done in my mouth because that's me, but this was the easiest work I've ever had done.
So, if you are debating which kind of surgery to do I personally would recommend the pinhole surgery.

We've gone to Dr Arellano for many years and have never been disappointed with any of the work he's done. Recently my husband broke a tooth and Leo got him in and had the tooth repaired within a few short hours. Service like that is very hard to finds these days. His office staff is fantastic. Nice people you are always glad to see. I would highly recommend Dr Arellano to anyone who is searching for an honest, competent, well trained dentist.
